At Jerramungup District High School, we pride ourselves on being a school that values both new graduates and experienced staff members. All of our staff are supportive and work together as a team to inspire, motivate and foster the learning of our students. We encourage teachers to get involved in local community groups whether it be as a player, coach or a loudly cheering spectator.
Jerramungup is also a part of the Country Teaching Program which means that after two years of continuous service at Jerramungup District High School, you automatically gain your permanency as a teacher which is something not easily obtained in a lot of schools.
Rather than us tell you how wonderful our school is, please read below to hear from some of our current and former staff members.

The town of Jerramungup is welcoming, warm and inclusive. It has a diverse history which locals are passionate, maintaining traditions and building on culture. The key to Jerramungup is to understand that you will only get out – what you put in. The community is more welcoming if you put yourself out there to be a part of their community. There are so many options to you from long bush walks, to learning about farming from local farmers, discovering nature in the Fitzgerald National Park, swimming or fishing at Bremer Bay and joining in sporting events from netball, basketball, footy, hockey, bowls, golf and more. So many opportunities are available outside of school to make connections, engage in sporting or cultural events and build friendships. It can be tricky sometimes as you may be socialising with parents or students but the community is aware and respects the need for school staff to maintain discretion.
I was fortunate enough to live and work in Jerramungup twice, both times for between 7-11 years. On return the second time - although some people had changed – the connections within the town did not. Locals continued to be passionate about their farms, sporting events, volunteering for local organisations such as St Johns Ambulance or simply helping out at a busy bee. My family was lucky enough be a part of this community, live and work, sharing the amazing place that Jerramungup is. The community sticks together through celebrations to devastating events – supporting each other with no questions asked, just a helping hand. Although people come and go, the minute you step into the community or just back visiting – you are always warmly welcomed. There is so much to gain and learn from living and working in a small country town that you can take with you wherever you go. It would be a privilege to go to Jerramungup and one that I would never hesitate in recommending.
