Attendance

The Education Act requires all students of school age to be enrolled in and attend school. Student attendance is recorded daily and absences are monitored.

Jerramungup DHS uses a mobile phone messaging system to communicate unexplained student absences to parents/guardians.  This communication system uses Short Messaging Service (SMS) and will send text messages to parent/guardian mobile phones when your child is absent from school (in the instance that an explanation has not already been provided).  Each morning of a school day, our computer system will automatically send parents a message similar to: JDHS records show <student name> is absent Mon 23/03/2007. Please reply SMS or call 9835 2600, student name/reason/ date

A message to the school can also be sent through the School Star app via the Messages function within the app.

You can program the school’s SMS number into your mobile so that you know when we send you a message. The number is 0438 962 212.

SMS is designed to advise parents that according to school records, the student is absent and no reason has been provided to the school.

Parents/guardians/carers are legally responsible for ensuring their child attends school and are required to ensure the school is informed verbally, via SMS or in writing of the reason for any absence.

Any family holidays which occur during the term should be discussed with the Principal prior to departure.
