Connect for Parents

WHAT IS CONNECT?

Now more than ever, being connected with your child(ren)’s learning community is vitally important.

Developed by the Department of Education WA for staff, students and parents in public schools, Connect is an online environment integrated with existing Department systems and services including digital resources, Western Australian Curriculum, email and Reporting to Parents. Invitations to join Connect have been sent to the email address provided to the school by you.

Once you join Connect, you will be able to see information specific to your own child or children such as:

  • Notices from the school
  • Work provided on Connect for your child

If online classes are available, you will also be able to see:

  • The classes in which your children are enrolled
  • Class calendars
  • Week by week attendance information
  • Notices from classes
HOW TO ACCESS CONNECT

An invitation to join Connect will be sent to you using the email address you provided to the school. In the email are instructions on how to register for Connect. If you have not received an invitation, please get in touch with the school, preferrably by email and request an invitation.  As soon as it is practicable, we will issue you a new invitation.

Upon registration, parents will be given their own secure login to Connect. This will be a P-number as a user name. You will be provided with an opportunity to create a password of your choosing.

The web address to access Connect is http://connect.det.wa.edu.au.

If you have multiple children, you will only need one login – even if your children attend different public schools. You will require Internet access and a computer, tablet or smartphone device.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I get to Connect?
The website for connect is: http://connect.det.wa.edu.au

How do I get my username and password?
You should have received an invitation from Jerramungup District High School to join our Connect community.  There are a number of reasons why you may not have received an invitation to join:
– The school does not have a valid email address for you.
– Our invitation has been filtered by your email’s junk email filter.

If you haven’t received an invitation to join Connect, please email, or telephone us on 9835 2600.

Do I need my child’s details to login to Connect?
No, parents and carers have separate Connect accounts from students. You must use your parent specific Connect account in order to view reports and contact teachers.

My child does not have a Connect account.
All students are automatically registered with Connect as soon as they are enrolled at the school. Typically, student user names are formatted as Firstname.Lastname (for instance, Fred.Smith), though some students do have numbers after their name (for instance Fred.Smith3).

Don’t worry if your child does not know their login ID or can’t remember their password; you can contact the school and staff will be able to provide you with the necessary details.

My child has no classroom or work in Connect, is something wrong?
Assignments, tasks, and homework show up in Connect once the teacher has uploaded them. Some subjects will have less Connect content due to the practical nature of the subject. The best way to contact a teacher is via email.
